How to Store Holiday Decor
Storing your holiday decorations better than any elf. Christmas is my favorite time of the year... but as we all know, decorating for the holidays can be overwhelming. As always though, a little organization can help destress and relieve pressure. To keep things fresh, I love to change my Christmas tree decorations every year and choose a different theme. Last year, I did a red and white candy cane theme, while this year I decided to keep the white but remove the red and add some gold and silver ornaments to my tree. So while the overall look changes, the underlying elements remain the same. As such, properly storing your ornaments and decorations is essential to keeping them looking great and easy to find.
In partnership with The Container Store, here are my favorite storage products to keep all my holiday items in their place. First off, how to keep those ultra fragile ornaments from shattering into a million little pieces. You need to invest in a storage box that separates them, and keeps them from moving around. The Container Store Red Farmhouse Ornament Storage Boxes are my go-to item for this very reason. Store your ornaments by color in order to make it easier to quickly mix and match themes. Additionally, I use Natural Excelsior to wrap all my delicate ornaments in place during their trips from the tree to storage. Next, ditch the real tree for an artificial one. I know that the smell of a real tree is incredible, but an artificial one has so many advantages...you know its dimensions will never change, they are environmentally friendly, and save you tons of time from watering and disposal. I made the switch about five years ago and have not looked back. The quality of artificial trees today makes them nearly indistinguishable from real ones and will save you a ton of headaches. Store your tree and keep it looking like new using The Container Store Red Large Farmhouse Christmas Tree Storage Bag. It is large enough to fit the tree and its sturdy handles make hauling and storing a breeze.
The best gift you can give yourself is the gift of organization, invest in these key pieces and come January, storing everything for the next holiday season will be something you look forward to.
